Manitoba teachers are being hosted at Assiniboine Park Zoo on Saturday.

Teacher Appreciation Day will see teachers admitted free and their guests offered a 10 percent discount on gate admission.

“At Assiniboine Park Zoo, we offer a variety of educational experiences year-round on topics ranging from Arctic ecology to the role of zoos in a changing climate,” said Karen Lind, manager, education & programs, Assiniboine Park Conservancy.

“In 2019, over 600 school groups visited Assiniboine Park Zoo. We see teachers as our partners in delivering a valuable and memorable educational experience and want to show our appreciation.”

Special events are planned for throughout the day, including drop-in tours of the Journey to Churchill exhibit from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Those teachers wishing to take advantage of the free offer can present any of the following forms of identification at the zoo entrance:

  • Manitoba Teacher Society card
  • Teacher Certificate
  • Early Childhood Educator Certificate
  • Homeschooling enrollment letter

Assiniboine Park Zoo is open daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
