A 32-year-old man from Split Lake has died after being exposed to the elements last week.

RCMP say a First Nation Safety Officer (FNSO) attempted to speak with the man the night of January 23, but he ran into the woods.

The man was later reported missing and a search of the Split Lake community began to locate him.

Thompson RCMP used police dogs to conduct a ground search and they later found the man deceased.

Police say no criminality is suspected in the death, but the investigation remains open pending results of an autopsy.
