A Winnipeg man has been charged with possessing child pornography after allegedly uploading material to a social networking website.

Police were alerted that child sexual abuse imagery was uploaded online in September 2019. The social network notified the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in the United States, who then alerted the National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre in Ottawa and the Winnipeg Police Service.

Police with the ICE Unit executed a search warrant at a home in the 600 block of Nottingham Avenue on January 24. A male suspect was arrested a short time later in the 700 block of Kernaghan Avenue.

Officers seized numerous electronic devices from the residence. A preliminary analysis of the data on the devices revealed child sexual abuse imagery.

Ronald Tretiak, 68, of Winnipeg was arrested and charged.
