Two Winnipeg restaurants are among the top picks in the country for Valentine’s Day reservations this year.
According to diners on OpenTable, an online restaurant reservation provider, 529 Wellington and Cafe Carlo made the list of 100 for being the most romantic.
529, as its often simply referred, caters to clientele seeking an upscale dining experience and is known for its juicy steaks and other cuts of beef.
Cafe Carlo was established in 1989 and has been a staple in Winnipeg’s Little Italy neighbourhood. The eatery offers a selection of soups, sandwiches, salads, pasta dishes and other fare.
“Planning the perfect Valentine’s Day can be stressful, so we’ve rounded up the most romantic dining options from coast to coast,” said Matt Davis of OpenTable Canada.
“We’re alleviating the pressure of finding the right romantic restaurant and leaving it to diners to take it from there.”
Steakhouses and Italian cuisine are traditionally the most popular Valentine’s Day dining spots.
The 100 Most Romantic Restaurants in Canada list features restaurants from 31 cities across seven provinces. Ontario tops the list with 46 establishments, followed by Alberta with 21, British Columbia with 15 and Quebec with 13. Rounding out the list are restaurants from Nova Scotia (2), Manitoba (2) and Saskatchewan (1).
The list was compiled based on diner reviews collected between December 1, 2018 and November 30, 2019.
