Two Alberta men are facing charges after 120 cases of illegal tobacco was seized in eastern Manitoba.
RCMP pulled over a vehicle Monday afternoon on Highway 1 near Falcon Lake and began talking with the two people inside.
After a discussion, police inspected their vehicle and located the tobacco, which contained 1,200,000 cigarettes.
Issa Ahmad, 47, and Behzad Ahmed, 40, both from Edmonton, each face charges for trafficking tobacco. If convicted, they could face a mandatory triple tax penalty of more than $1 million.
Both men were taken into custody and released on a promise to appear in Winnipeg court on March 2.
RCMP continue to investigate.
