Manitobans can cast a line for free as part of Winter Family Fishing Weekend beginning Saturday.

From February 15-17, anglers don’t need a licence to fish in the province, except in national parks.

“There are endless fishing opportunities to be found throughout Manitoba, and ice fishing is a great way to spend time with friends and family outdoors,” said Agriculture and Resource Development Minister Blaine Pedersen.

“We encourage all Manitobans and visiting anglers to take advantage of our amazing fisheries free of charge.”

Conservation limits apply to those fishing without a licence. The province warns anglers to be sure conditions are safe before venturing onto the ice.

More information on fishing regulations can be found by viewing the Manitoba Anglers’ Guide at manitobafisheries.com.

Manitoba is also offering free entry to all provincial parks for the month of February.
