WINNIPEG — A four-storey condominium under construction erupted into flames early Sunday in Transcona.
The fire broke out at around 5:48 a.m. on Philip Lee Drive and fully engulfed one of the buildings on site.
Crews launched a defensive attack and worked to protect neighbouring structures and residences.
Firefighters had the blaze under control by just before 7:30 a.m.
Winnipeg Transit buses were brought in to house evacuees from nearby residences. No injuries were reported.
About 4,000 Manitoba Hydro customers were affected and were without power as of Sunday morning.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates are available.
