WINNIPEG — A group of new tenants are setting up shop in St. Vital Centre in the space left vacant by the former Sears store.

Marshalls and HomeSense will be opening this summer, occupying two floors neighbouring the new GoodLife Fitness location.

The mall is also welcoming Dynacare, which opened up its laboratory for medical tests earlier this week. Dynacare is located near the southern entrance next to SilverCity St. Vital Cinemas.

“We’re excited to welcome so many great new tenants to the shopping centre this year,” said Kyle Waterman, general manager, St. Vital Centre, Cushman & Wakefield Asset Services.

“The retail sector is changing and St. Vital Centre is at the forefront of that change. We are already a gathering place in our community, so it is convenient for people to come to the mall to visit Dynacare. It’s the same reason why GoodLife Fitness has chosen to open in St. Vital Centre. These are vital services for people today and they help us continue to drive traffic to our retail tenants.”

Warehouse One also recently moved to the shopping centre, adding to the fashion lineup.

Waterman says the former Sears location is nearly filled up, and one more retailer has committed to moving in later this year to occupy a two-storey space. Management is also in advanced talks with another major tenant, but are remaining tight-lipped on who that could be.

Visitors to St. Vital Centre will soon notice a new north entrance and a redesigned section of the mall, bringing in natural light from the new second-floor windows located above the play park.
