Several people were injured Sunday in a head-on collision on Highway 236 near Stonewall, Manitoba.

RCMP say an SUV travelling southbound collided with a northbound SUV at around 1:15 p.m. between Road 81N and Road 82N.

A 74-year-old Teulon area man driving the first SUV was taken to hospital with significant injuries and is listed in stable condition.

The second vehicle landed in the west side ditch of Highway 236, where three people inside were found to be injured.

A 52-year-old woman and six-year-old girl suffered significant injuries and are also listed in stable condition in hospital. A seven-year-old girl was also injured and was airlifted to hospital in unstable condition, but later upgraded to stable.

RCMP say both vehicles were heavily damaged in the crash.

The cause is under investigation, but road conditions are said to be a contributing factor.
