Teen Girl Fatally Shot on Manitoba First Nation

A 15-year-old girl was shot and killed on Waywayseecappo First Nation Saturday night.

Manitoba First Nations Police were called to the report of a single gunshot at a home in the community at around 7 p.m.

They located the teen suffering from a gunshot wound and had her transported to hospital, where she later died of her injuries.

Lawrence Jade Shingoose, 25, of Waywayseecappo First Nation, has been charged with manslaughter, criminal negligence causing death with a firearm, careless use of a firearm and possessing a weapon contrary to an order. He remains in police custody.

RCMP and the Manitoba First Nations Police Service are investigating.
