Winnipeg police have dismantled a drug-trafficking organization accused of pedalling crack cocaine in the Point Douglas neighbourhood.
Police say Project Matriarch began in October 2020 and led investigators to seize cocaine, crack cocaine, Canadian currency, a loaded firearm and ammunition, jewellery, a 2016 BMW X5, and a skid steer.
Police also seized 10 residential properties under the Criminal Property Forfeiture Act. In total, the seized property and assets account for approximately $2,343,497.
Officers arrested 26 people within the organization, including the original target, Sandra Guiboche, 57.
More than 100 criminal charges were laid, including drug trafficking, proceeds of crime, conspiracy and money laundering offences.
