One woman was killed and another taken to hospital Friday following a two-vehicle crash on Highway 6 just south of St. Laurent.

Manitoba RCMP responded at around 11:40 p.m. to find one vehicle in the ditch and another in the middle of the highway, both heavily damaged.

The 28-year-old Winnipeg woman driving the southbound vehicle that went into the ditch was pronounced deceased on scene. The 33-year-old woman driving the northbound vehicle, also from Winnipeg, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

RCMP are continuing to investigate the crash, but say both vehicles collided in the southbound lane.
