Winnipeg police say they are investigating two incidents involving the intentional poisoning of two dogs in the Minto neighbourhood.
Recently, both owners contacted police advising their pets fell ill from ingesting what was confirmed to be rodent poison while in the confines of their fenced-in yards.
Police say the poison was contained in a plastic bag and had been thrown into the yards. One of the dogs was medically treated and released, while the other dog died due to ingesting the poison.
“Pet owners are encouraged to report any suspicious circumstances that involve their pet consuming a poisonous substance being thrown into their yard,” police said in a release. “Seek veterinary assistance immediately.”
