One person has died in a vehicle fire in Oakville, Manitoba.
Portage la Prairie RCMP were called to the scene Thursday just before 10 p.m. where they located a vehicle in the middle of North School Road. The vehicle was severely burned and the remains of a person were found in the driver’s seat.
Police say the vehicle was travelling southbound on North School Road when it left the roadway and entered the ditch. Noises were heard coming from the vehicle, which then came back on the road, coming to a rest in the middle of the roadway.
A fire then ignited in the vehicle’s engine compartment. Police say no criminality is suspected.
RCMP continue to investigate.
