A Winnipeg man drowned in West Hawk Lake on Saturday following a jump off a pontoon boat.
Falcon Lake RCMP were called to the scene at around 6:40 p.m. and learned two Winnipeg men, ages 51 and 52, both jumped into the water, when they both began having difficulties.
Life jackets were thrown at the men, but the 52-year-old wasn’t able to reach it in time and went under the surface.
RCMP, Manitoba Conservation and the local fire department searched the water in the area but were unable to locate the victim. The Hutterian Emergency Aquatic Response Team (HEART) also responded and the man’s body was recovered at 4:20 a.m. on Sunday.
Falcon Lake RCMP continue to investigate.
