WINNIPEG — A former Winnipeg hockey coach has been charged with alleged sexual assault crimes committed between 1993 and 1995.
Police were contacted by two survivors in June 2021, who reported they were sexual assaulted while they were players in the Assiniboine Park Hockey Association.
According to police, the survivors were invited to the suspect’s home, where they were given money and alcohol and subsequently sexually assaulted. They further reported that the incidents had been photographed and videotaped at the time.
Officers executed a search warrant in the first 100 block of Lake Park Drive on Wednesday, where a man was taken into custody.
Robert aka “Bob” Donald Joseph Dawson, 57, of Winnipeg has been charged with two counts each of sexual interference, sexual exploitation, sexual assault and forcible confinement. Dawson has also been charged with possession of child pornography and two counts of making child pornography.
