An off-road vehicle accident on Lake St. Martin First Nation has left one man dead and another in police custody on suspicion of impaired driving.
Manitoba RCMP say the crash happened Tuesday night on Memorial Crescent when three men were on the ATV.
The driver attempted to make a turn but lost control, sending the ATV rolling into the ditch. All three men were ejected, where a 25-year-old man from Dauphin River was pronounced deceased on scene. The second passenger, a 23-year-old man, wasn’t injured.
The 39-year-old man driving the ATV was arrested for refusing a breath sample in an accident resulting in death. He remains in custody.
Police say all three occupants weren’t wearing helmets and alcohol and speed are believed to be factors in the crash.
Gypsumville RCMP continue to investigate.
