Winnipeg police have arrested and charged two people related to the homicide of Mohammed Yonis Ali just over a year ago.
The Toronto victim, who was 21 at the time of his death, was fatally shot on August 28, 2020 in the 800 block of Alfred Avenue.
Investigators have spent the past year probing the shooting and recently made two arrests.
Arturo Andres Carrasco, 24, of Winnipeg was arrested on August 25. Nootin Kasipigositmikise Fontaine, 25, of Victoria Beach, Manitoba, was arrested on September 2.
Both men have been charged with first-degree murder.
Carrasco is also facing charges regarding three other Winnipeg shootings that took place in July and September of 2019.
Both men remain in custody and police continue to investigate. Additional arrests may be pending for suspects who assisted Fontaine and Carrasco.
