The bodies of two people were recovered from a house fire last week in Northlands Denesuline First Nation (Lac Brochet), Manitoba.

RCMP say the blaze happened at around 7 a.m. on September 9. The fire occurred amid a report of possibly two people missing from the community who could be in the residence.

Officers entered the home after the fire was extinguished and located the remains of two people. They were transported to a hospital in Winnipeg for an autopsy.

RCMP and the Office of the Fire Commissioner continues to investigate.
