Winnipeg Man Drowns in South Indian Lake

RCMP Crest LogoA 46-year-old Winnipeg man drowned in O-pipon-Na-piwin Cree Nation (South Indian Lake) over the weekend.

RCMP were alerted Saturday morning to a report of a drowning by a remote cabin along Provincial Road 49. Officers located the man in a small pond near the cabin and he was pronounced deceased on scene.

Initial investigation has determined that the victim slipped in the mud on the banks of the pond and fell in the water.

RCMP continue to investigate.
