Police Investigating Homicide in West Broadway

UPDATE: Tuesday, July 11 — Police have charged Abdiazia Ahmed Saeed, 42, with second-degree murder.

Police say both the victim and suspect knew each other and were tenants in the same building. An altercation occurred in the victim’s suite, where Saeed fatally stabbed him, according to police.

Winnipeg police are investigating a homicide after a man was assaulted at a West Broadway apartment on Saturday.

Police were called to a residential suite in the 300 block of Langside Street at around 10:30 p.m.

Officers located the deceased victim, who has been identified as Marcel Alphonse Painchaud, 64, of Winnipeg.
