A seven-year-old girl has died after drowning in Gods Lake last weekend.

The incident happened on the south side of the lake on the afternoon of June 30.

Manitoba RCMP say a group of children, ranging in age from five to 12, were swimming, when the girl went under the water. The other children ran and got help, and an adult was able to pull her out of the water and began first aid.

The child was taken to the local nursing station where she was pronounced deceased.

RCMP continue to investigate.
