A vehicle collision in Cross Lake on Wednesday escalated into a drug bust, resulting in the arrest of three people from Winnipeg.
Cross Lake RCMP arrived at the scene of a collision on Sipiseek Road at around 10:30 p.m. and found three occupants inside the vehicle with open liquor visible. The 38-year-old driver, who provided a false name, was arrested for impaired driving and obstruction.
As officers questioned the two male passengers, both 30-years-old, one of them attempted to disarm a female officer by pushing her and reaching for her radio. The situation was quickly brought under control, and all three suspects were taken into custody without injuries.
A search of the vehicle turned up approximately 56 grams of a substance believed to be cocaine, more than $13,000 in cash, and various drug-related paraphernalia.
The suspects were transported to the Cross Lake RCMP Detachment, where they remain in custody. The investigation is ongoing.
