The Winnipeg Goldeyes wrapped up the regular season Monday, falling to the Lincoln Saltdogs at Blue Cross Park.

Lincoln, with a 6-3 win, built an early lead with a two-run home run by center fielder Kyle Battle in the third inning, followed by an RBI single from third baseman Dakota Conners, making it 3-0. The Saltdogs added another run in the fifth with a sacrifice fly by catcher Max Hewitt.

Lincoln extended their lead to 6-0 in the eighth inning, thanks to a double from left fielder Aaron Takacs and a fielder’s choice that scored Matt Pita. The Goldeyes attempted a late comeback in the ninth, loading the bases and scoring three runs on a walk to Evan Alexander and a single by Edwin Arroyo. However, their rally ended with a double play.

Lincoln starter Foster Pace earned the win, allowing just one hit over six innings, while David Zoz secured the save. Winnipeg’s Landen Bourassa took the loss, giving up three runs on five hits in three innings.

The Goldeyes will visit the Sioux Falls Canaries in Game One of the West Division Series on Wednesday at 6:35 p.m. CT. Winnipeg will host games two and three of the series, if necessary, on September 6 and 7. Tickets are available at the Blue Cross Park ticket office and Goldeyes.com.
