Winnipeg police arrested a 22-year-old man on Tuesday after two attempted carjackings at knifepoint in a parking lot near Portage Avenue and Home Street.

Around 5:40 p.m., a 45-year-old man was threatened with a knife and assaulted with a lit cigarette, sustaining minor injuries. The suspect fled without the vehicle keys. Shortly after, the suspect approached a 41-year-old man in the same parking lot but again failed to steal the vehicle.

Connor Ethan Camphaug was arrested nearby and charged with robbery, weapon possession, assault with a weapon, and uttering threats. He remains in custody.
