WINNIPEG — The Schroeder Foundation has made a landmark $15 million donation to Red River College Polytechnic (RRC Polytech), marking a significant step forward for the college’s creative arts programs.
The substantial gift, announced on Thursday, will establish the Schroeder Institute of Entertainment and Media Arts, aimed at advancing Manitoba’s creative industries and nurturing local talent.
The new Schroeder Institute will support 12 core programs and introduce two new programs, Animation and Entertainment Production Management, set to launch in fall 2025. The institute will also offer micro-credential programs for current professionals and focus on applied research in emerging technologies.
“The Schroeder Foundation’s decision to make this tremendous investment in RRC Polytech reflects that there are visionaries invested in our community who recognize the value of what we are doing here to support students on their way into careers in creative industries,” said Fred Meier, president and CEO, RRC Polytech. “This gift today will enable us to create so many more opportunities for Manitobans and our creative industries together.”
The Schroeder Institute will enhance RRC Polytech’s ability to produce job-ready graduates and support industry growth. The institute’s applied research will explore innovative areas like AI in media creation and immersive technologies.
