Hannah Matthews and Ben Gaboury, newlyweds from Starbuck, Manitoba, recently started their life together with a life-changing surprise, winning $3 million.
The couple was driving into Winnipeg when Matthews scratched a $30 PLATINUM Scratch & Win ticket purchased during a gas station stop.
“My wife checked it with her phone app—she probably checked it like 10 times!” Gaboury recalled. “We just couldn’t believe it.”
“We had to pull off the highway into a parking lot to look it over and process it,” Matthews added. “This is lifechanging for sure!”
Married for less than a year and still awaiting their honeymoon, the couple is already planning how to use the winnings.
“We’re going to buy our house, get my wife a new car, and finally go on our honeymoon—probably in Greece,” Gaboury said.
The winning ticket was purchased at the Oak Bluff Esso.
