Winnipeg police have arrested a woman following a stabbing incident in the North End on Wednesday.
Officers responded to the 800 block of Main Street at approximately 5 p.m. after receiving reports of a stabbing. Upon arrival, they found a female suspect armed with a knife at the corner of Main Street and Dufferin Avenue. She was taken into custody.
A 41-year-old man approached the officers at the scene, stating he had been stabbed. Shortly after, a second victim, a 34-year-old man, was found nearby, also suffering from stab wounds. Police provided emergency medical assistance, including the use of a tourniquet on one of the victims.
Both victims were transported to hospital, one in stable and the other in unstable condition. The 34-year-old man was later upgraded to stable.
Police say the suspect confronted and stabbed the 34-year-old man before attacking the second victim without provocation.
Sarah Marie Whitmore, 41, of Winnipeg, has been charged with two counts of assault with a weapon and two counts of failing to comply with a release order. She remains in custody.
