Brandon police are looking for the owner of five puppies that had been abandoned on Tuesday at the east end of the city.
Police said on social media that officers would like to speak with the owner(s) to ensure the health and welfare of the parent dog.
“Currently the puppies appear to be in good health and are being safely cared for,” police said in a post. “Animal Control is not seeking foster care, and the animals are NOT currently available for adoption.”
Police added that in situations where times may become tough, they would like to remind pet owners to please reach out for help or call Animal Control before resorting to abandoning and putting the animals at risk.”
Anyone who recognizes the puppies or knows the owners is asked to contact police at (204) 729-2345 or email policefrontdesk@brandon.ca.
