Winnipeg police arrested a 20-year-old man in connection with a robbery that occurred Tuesday near Lochmoor Avenue and Paterson Street.

The incident happened around 10:36 p.m. when a 21-year-old woman was followed after exiting a bus. The suspect assaulted her, causing her to fall to the ground, and stole her cellphone before fleeing the scene. The victim suffered minor injuries but did not require medical attention.

Officers quickly identified the suspect, Alijah William Burton, and arrested him at his residence early Wednesday. He has been charged with robbery and remains in custody.

The investigation is ongoing.
