939 Chancellor (PARAGON LIVING / HANDOUT)
A joint investment from the federal government, the City of Winnipeg, and Paragon Living, will bring 95 new homes to Winnipeg.
The announcement was made on Friday in south Winnipeg and is a partnership with the Roseau River Anishinaabe First Nation Trust.
The Chancellor, a seven-story development at 939 Chancellor Drive, will feature one- to three-bedroom apartments, 38 of which will offer rents below 70 percent of market rates. The units will prioritize Roseau River Anishinaabe members before opening to the public.
“939 Chancellor exemplifies the success of cross-sectoral collaboration in delivering premium multi-family housing options for all Manitobans,” said Nigel Furgus, CEO, Paragon Living.
“We are proud to construct buildings with high-end finishes that also prioritize affordability and Indigenous reconciliation.”
Of the total funding, $32.2 is coming from the federal government through the Affordable Housing Fund, $3.5 million from Roseau River Anishinaabe First Nation, and $2.8 million in tax rebates from the city.
Construction began in the summer of 2024 and is set for completion in 18 months.
