The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba is investigating the death of a male youth after an officer-involved shooting on Norway House First Nation.
RCMP responded to a residence on Niska View early Friday, where a youth reportedly high and armed with an edged weapon confronted officers.
Despite commands to drop the weapon, the youth advanced, prompting police to discharge a service firearm. The youth later died despite emergency aid.
Witnesses with information are urged to contact the IIU at 1-844-667-6060. The investigation is ongoing.
