WINNIPEG — One firefighter was injured battling a blaze at a vacant property early Saturday in the 400 block of Aberdeen Avenue.

Emergency crews were called to the boarded-up house just before 6:30 a.m. to find smoke coming from the structure.

Firefighters initially launched an offensive attack, but deteriorating conditions forced crews to switch to a defensive attack. Firefighters utilized aerial ladders to extinguish the fire and are expected to be on scene throughout the morning.
