Winnipeg police have charged a 27-year-old man following an incident involving a replica firearm on Monday.
Just before noon, officers responded to a report of a man seen with a firearm in the 1900 block of Main Street. Police located the suspect a short distance away and arrested him without incident.
A search revealed the suspect was carrying an unloaded replica airsoft gun. Police learned the man had been loitering at a nearby restaurant prior to the incident. When approached by staff and asked to leave, a worker noticed a firearm protruding from the suspect’s jacket and contacted police. The man left the restaurant without causing further disturbance.
The man, whose name wasn’t released, is facing a weapons-related charge and will appear in court at a later date.
