WINNIPEG — Fire crews responded to two separate fires on Selkirk Avenue Sunday afternoon, with both incidents occurring in the same block.
The first fire, reported at 1:30 p.m., broke out in a mixed commercial and residential building. Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service crews quickly entered the structure and had the blaze under control by 2 p.m. All occupants evacuated safely, and no injuries were reported. Residents were able to return to their suites once firefighters cleared the scene.
Just a few hours later, at 4:07 p.m., emergency crews were called back to the same block for another fire. Firefighters attempted an interior attack, but worsening conditions forced them to shift to an exterior strategy, using aerial ladders to battle the flames.
No injuries were reported, but some residents were displaced.
The cause of both fires remains under investigation, and damage estimates are not yet available.
