Winnipeg police are investigating the homicide of a 33-year-old woman following a domestic-related assault early Saturday morning.
Officers responded to a residence in the 1000 block of Selkirk Avenue around 3:10 a.m., where they found a severely injured woman. Police provided emergency medical care, including CPR, before she was transported to hospital in critical condition. She later succumbed to her injuries.
The victim has been identified as Stephanie Anderson-Paupaneckis, a member of Norway House First Nation who had been living in Winnipeg since 2024.
Officers later located a suspect nearby and took him into custody. Jason Matthew Keam, 40, also a member of Norway House First Nation, has been charged with second-degree murder. He remains in custody.
