The Manitoba government is investing $13 million to help Cereals Canada build the Global Agriculture Technology Exchange (Gate), a new centre in downtown Winnipeg focused on grain innovation and trade.
Premier Wab Kinew says the project will boost global demand for Manitoba’s high-quality grains and support job growth. The facility will include research labs, milling and baking equipment, and training space.
“Agriculture is the backbone of Manitoba’s economy and this investment will protect jobs as farmers and producers are facing a trade war on two fronts,” said Kinew.
“This new exchange will help showcase Manitoba’s grains to the world and help drive up global demand for high-quality Canadian grain products.”

The project will be led by Cereals Canada, a national industry association that will anchor the new facility in Winnipeg’s Exchange District.
The province says the investment is part of its broader plan to revitalize downtown Winnipeg and strengthen Manitoba’s role in international grain markets.
