Canada Soccer has announced the Women’s National Team will host Haiti in a two-match friendly series this spring, with the first game set to honour Winnipeg’s own Desiree Scott as she retires from international soccer.
The opener will take place Saturday, May 31 at Princess Auto Stadium in Winnipeg, marking the team’s first visit to the city since 2017.
The match will celebrate Scott’s remarkable 14-year career, which included 187 international appearances and a reputation as a tenacious midfield presence. Nicknamed “The Destroyer,” Scott played a key role in Canada’s success over the past decade.
“Representing Canada has been one of my life’s greatest accomplishments,” Scott said in a statement.
“It has been a team that I’ve been so fortunate to call family and to make history with and the ride has been nothing short of amazing! I have given my all to our country and just want to say thank you! I am forever grateful.”
The second game will be held Tuesday, June 3 at Stade Saputo in Montreal, where Canada last played in 2024, defeating Mexico 2–0 in front of over 15,000 fans.
Tickets for the Haiti series go on sale Friday, May 2, with advance presales beginning Tuesday, April 29.
While stepping away from international competition, Scott is continuing her playing career domestically with Rapid FC, who host their home opener on April 27.
