The Manitoba government is closing Whiteshell Provincial Park due to escalating wildfire conditions in the region. As of 9 a.m. on Thursday, May 15, all public access to the park will be restricted, with full evacuation required by 1 p.m. the same day.

The closure includes all areas of the park — cottages, campgrounds, trails, beaches, and recreational sites. Full-time residents must register with Manitoba Parks in person at designated reception centres in Falcon Lake, Rennie, or at the PR 307/Waterline Road junction, or call 204-340-6769 if unable to do so.

All campgrounds will remain closed until at least May 21. The Parks Reservation Service is notifying affected reservation holders.

Evacuation orders and closures also remain in effect for Nopiming, Wallace Lake, South Atikaki, Manigotagan River, Pinawa Dam, and Poplar Bay provincial parks.
