Manitoba residents forced to evacuate due to wildfires can now apply for financial assistance through the Wildfire Incidental Support Program.
To qualify, individuals must be permanent Manitoba residents, live in a community or First Nation under a mandatory evacuation order, and be registered with the Canadian Red Cross.
Eligible evacuees aged 13 and older will receive $34 per day ($238 per week), while children 12 and under will receive $27 per day ($189 per week). The payments aim to support evacuees for the duration of the evacuation order.

On Thursday, the province launched MB Ready, a new online portal to keep residents informed during emergencies, such as wildfires.
Manitoba remains under a state of emergency until June 26, with very high wildfire danger in most areas. Officials say human activity continues to be a major factor in the current wildfire situation.
