Winnipeg Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck has been named the NHL’s most valuable player and top goaltender for the 2024–25 season, winning both the Hart Memorial Trophy and Vezina Trophy.
The 32-year-old is the first player in Jets franchise history to win the Hart and just the fourth goalie in the NHL’s modern era to earn the league MVP honour. This also marks his third career Vezina Trophy, placing him alongside elite company like Dominik Hasek, Martin Brodeur, and Patrick Roy.
Hellebuyck led the league with 47 wins, helping the Jets capture franchise records in wins, points, and their first-ever Presidents’ Trophy. He also topped the NHL in shutouts (8), goals-against average (2.00), and finished second in save percentage (.925).
“It means a lot,” said Hellebuyck about winning the Hart Memorial Trophy. “It’s one of those things that doesn’t get swung towards the goalies too often, so any time that a goalie kind of gets a sniff at it, you take notice… You look back at the year, it was just such a fun year and we had so much positivity around the locker room and everyone was just kind of living in the moment and enjoying the year. With team success, individual success comes and just to get one of these is pretty special in my world.”
The Michigan native, drafted in the fifth round by Winnipeg in 2012, also claimed his second straight William M. Jennings Trophy as the goalie on the team with the fewest goals allowed in the regular season.
