A 34-year-old Winnipeg man is facing multiple charges after a violent attempted vehicle theft and a series of related incidents early Saturday in the RM of Mountain and nearby Bellsite.
Swan River RCMP responded around 6 a.m. on June 21 to a call about a man caught trying to steal a vehicle. When the homeowner confronted the suspect, a scuffle ensued and the victim was stabbed. He was treated in hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Roughly 30 minutes later, police received reports of a suspicious man matching the stabbing suspect’s description attempting to steal from vehicles in Bellsite. Officers later discovered a stolen truck nearby with a knife inside, believed to have been used in the earlier attack.
Police arrested Clinton Duck, 34, that same evening after he was spotted being dropped off along Highway 10. He faces charges including robbery, break and enter, theft, possession of a weapon, and multiple counts of failing to comply with release conditions. He remains in custody.
RCMP continue to investigate.
