A group of bystanders helped stop a violent robbery and stabbing that occurred just after midnight in Osborne Village on Monday.
A woman in her 20s was attacked from behind while walking home after work on Roslyn Road.
Police say she was pushed to the ground, stabbed, and robbed of her phone. Despite her injuries, the victim managed to disarm the attacker and hold onto the knife as the assault continued. Nearby witnesses intervened and called 911 before the suspects fled.
The victim was taken to hospital in critical condition and has since been upgraded to stable.
Winnipeg police have arrested a 17-year-old girl, who is facing charges of robbery, aggravated assault, and seven counts of failing to comply with a release order. She remains in custody.
