The Manitoba government is spending $4.8 million to upgrade two key sections of Highway 16 in Neepawa, aiming to improve access to the town’s newly expanded health centre.
The investment includes $2 million for a new road extension from Hamilton Street to PTH 16, improving connections to the hospital, a new school, daycare, industrial park, and HyLife Foods — Neepawa’s largest employer. The project is being supported through the Manitoba GRO program.
A second $2.8 million provincial project will add a dedicated right-turn lane and exit cut-off into and out of the health centre. Construction is expected to be completed by fall 2025.
Officials say the upgrades will enhance safety, reduce congestion, and support the region’s rapid growth.
