A 42-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly breaking into a Manitoba Hydro facility on Henlow Bay to steal copper wire early Monday morning.
Police responded to a burglar alarm around 2:43 a.m. and found the suspect hiding between a fenced compound and a nearby building. Real-time updates from Hydro security staff monitoring surveillance cameras helped officers locate him.
The suspect, identified as Eric Albert Peters, was found with a knife and ID belonging to someone else. He also had outstanding warrants for failing to attend court and breaching release conditions.
Peters is facing multiple charges, including break and enter, carrying a concealed weapon, and possession of an identity document. He remains in custody.
