Manitoba Public Insurance will open registration for its popular Driver Z high school driver education program on July 23 at 8 a.m., with an expanded capacity of nearly 4,700 seats across the province.
To help families prepare, a Driver Z Course Finder will be available on MPI’s website beginning Friday, July 18. The program includes a combination of online, virtual, in-person, and in-car training aimed at teaching young drivers safe driving skills.
Parents are encouraged to set up their teen as a customer and purchase the course in advance at an MPI Service Centre or Autopac broker to speed up registration day.
Students can be registered through an Autopac broker, contacting the MPI Contact Centre, going to an MPI Service Centre (opening early that day), or calling the Driver Education line.
To meet high demand, MPI has increased fall seats — up from 4,200 last year — and aims to restore enrollment to pre-pandemic levels with 10,000 total spots by year’s end.
“MPI recognizes the high demand for this program and that many customers are not always successful when trying to register their child for Driver Z,” said Satvir Jatana, president & CEO of MPI, in a release.
“We have heard those parents and are committed to making changes so Driver Z is accessible to those who need it.”
