The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to four separate fires early Friday, including two in vacant homes previously damaged by fire.
Crews were first called to a blaze around 1 a.m. in a vacant house on the 800 block of Winnipeg Avenue. The fire, in a home already damaged by fires in February 2025 and January 2024, was under control by 5:04 a.m. A neighbouring home was temporarily evacuated, and an emergency demolition is planned.
Just after 5 a.m., fire crews battled flames at a commercial building on the 1300 block of Erin Street. No injuries were reported, and the cause is under investigation.
Shortly after, a fire was reported in a two-storey house on Inez Crossing. All occupants safely evacuated. Officials believe the fire was accidentally caused by smoking materials.
The final call came at 7:10 a.m. for a fire at a vacant home on Aberdeen Avenue, also previously damaged by fire earlier this year. Crews declared the fire under control by 7:41 a.m.
No injuries were reported in any of the incidents. Investigations into the causes of the fires are ongoing.
