Winnipeg’s Louise Bridge will remain closed to vehicles until early September after additional defects were discovered during ongoing repair work.
The bridge was originally shut down on May 23 for annual inspection and maintenance, with an expected reopening by the end of July. However, further structural issues were uncovered during corrosion repairs, requiring more time to address.
The city says that while the bridge remains open to pedestrians and cyclists, intermittent closures for that access may occur as work continues.
The city is asking drivers to plan alternate routes, such as the Disraeli or Provencher bridges, and will provide updates through its lane closures map.
