Former Winnipeg Blue Bomber Willard Reaves has announced his candidacy for leader of the Manitoba Liberal Party.
Reaves launched his campaign on Sunday on the steps of the Manitoba Legislative Building, pledging to work with all political parties to deliver “sound legislation so that all can benefit.”
He was introduced by former Liberal leader Jon Gerrard, who endorsed Reaves as a candidate.
Reaves, who has spent years working in Winnipeg after his professional football career, said his campaign will focus on creating opportunities for Manitobans and supporting those who are struggling.
“We need to come together in this great province so that everyone can rise up,” Reaves said in a statement.
The party’s leadership vote is scheduled for October 25, 2025.
