A 77-year-old Brandon woman has died and a 78-year-old man remains in hospital following a two-vehicle collision Saturday night west of Brandon.

Manitoba RCMP say the crash happened around 8:50 p.m. at Highway 1 and Provincial Road 250 in the RM of Whitehead, when an SUV crossing the intersection was struck on the driver’s side by a westbound truck.

The SUV’s driver later died in hospital, while her passenger sustained critical injuries. The 23-year-old female driver of the truck and her 20-year-old female passenger, both from Brandon, were not hurt.

Police say alcohol is not considered a factor. The investigation continues.
